Eu estou trabalhando em um novo torso. Originalmente era para ser apenas um busto, pois na verdade, eu estava buscando uma maneira de criar uma forma de controlar e configurar proporções de mamas e mamilos, pois isso é meio complicado no mundo da modelagem 3D. Há vários métodos possíveis mas até agora nenhum deles me agrada.


Esse modelo está dentro do meu projeto recente “Toon-dolls”.

I am working on a new torso. Originally it was meant to be a bust only, because actually, I was searching for a way of creating a manner of controlling and setting proportions for breasts and nipples, because this is kind of tricky in the 3D modelling world. There are several possible methods but so far none of them pleases me.

Hoje iniciei um novo projeto. A idéia inicial era de apenas modelar um chapéu, mas eu acabei me empolgando e quando dei conta, eu já havia modelado um personagem inteiro.


Eu quis experimentar um estilo diferente, pois o meu usual é fazer tudo o mais foto-realístico possível. E esse novo estilo, eu decidi batizá-lo de “Toon-dolls”.

Com a migração do Blender Render para o Blender Cycles, todos os materiais tiveram que ser refeitos. O mais delicado para mim foi o material para os olhos. Mais precisamente: Para as “íris” dos olhos. Pois eu havia criado anos antes uma “receita” de gerar todos os padrões de cores da iris dinamicamente, ao invés de simplesmente colocar uma imagem plana de frente de uma iris como forma de textura ou decalque.


Within the migration from Blender Render to the Blender Cycler, all the materials had to be remake. The most delicated to me was the material for the eyes. More precisely for the “iris” of the eyes. Because I had created years ago a “receipe” for generating all the colors patterns for the iris dynamically, instead of simply putting a plain image from the front of the iris as texture or sticker. (Technical term: “diffuse map”)

Eu estou estudando Blender 2.71, pois atualizei-me recentemente. Eu estava usando o Blender 2.49 até há pouco atrás, então eu ainda não estou familiarizado com os recursos novos. E de fato a versão 2.71 está bem melhor. Só acho uma pena a grande mudança na linguagem python que ocorreu a partir da versão 2.5 .


O que eu estou fazendo agora é estudar os “condutores” (drivers) responsáveis por interligarem funções e comandos dentro da interface. Minha necessidade no momento é uma maneira de controlar a iluminação do dia por um único e simples controle deslizante. O qual ali fica relacionado às horas do dia. E ele controlará quatro funções: A rotação da Terra, a cor do Sol, a cor da Lua e a intensidade da luz do céu.


Até agora, está indo tudo bem…
I am studying Blender 2.71, because I recently updated my entire system. I was using Blender 2.49 until some time ago, so I am not used to its new features. Indeed the 2.71 version is way better. I just think it is a shame the big changes in the Python language that happened from the version 2.51 .


What I am doing now is to study the “drivers” which are in charge of connecting functions and commands inside the interface. My needs now is a way to control the light illumination by a unique and simple control-slider. Which there will be related to the hours of the day. And it will contro four functions: Earth rotation, Sun color, Moon color and the intensity of the sky light.


So far, so good…

Estudando o Blender Cycles: Parte 3


Eu agora estou tentando aprimorar materiais que simulem pinturas automotivas do tipo metálicas.


Para quem não sabe, a pintura automotiva do tipo metálica não se limita apenas em uma tinta cheia de pós metálico. Se assim fosse, teria um resultado muito fosco. Como se fosse um espelho embaçado pelo vapor. Sendo que na verdade há um segundo efeito por cima desse que nós permite ver brilhos definidos de luzes e uma leve reflexão do ambiente à volta.


Isso acontece por conta do verniz. Na vida real é simples: Pinta-se com tinta metálica, espera-se secar, e depois pinta-se com verniz por cima. Mas no mundo virtual, onde tudo que vemos provém de números, é preciso quebrar a cabeça para combinar efeitos para que o resultado seja igual ao que vemos na vida real. E eu digo “quebrar a cabeça”, pois nem sempre os programas de modelagem 3D vêm com esses efeitos prontos de fábrica.

Studying Blender Cycles: Part 3


I am now trying to improve the materials which simulate automotive paintings of the metallic type.


For those who don’t know, the automotive painting of the metallic type doesn’t limit itself only to a paint full of “metallic dust”. If it were so, it would have a very diffuse result. Like if it were mirror blurry from vapor. When actually there is a second effect over this one which allow us to see well-defined shines from lights and a slight reflection of the environment around it.


This happens due to the varnish. In real life it is simple: Paint it with a coat of metallic paint, wait until it dries out and then paint it with a coat of varnish. But in the virtual world, where all we see comes from numbers, it takes to “crack the head” to combine these effects so the result can be equal of what we see in real life. And I say “crak the head”, because not always these 3D modeling softwares come from factory with this effects ready-to-use.
